Ravi Bopara Benefit Year

  • The Ashes winning England Cricket Team!

In 2015, the talented England and Essex cricket star, Ravi Bopara was awarded his own Benefit Year and we got the chance to be involved!

The Benefit Year is an annual cricket tradition in which an individual is given the opportunity to host a sequence of events throughout the year and support their chosen charities.

Ravi chose to support a line-up of admirable organisations, including Magic BusLord’s TavernersGreat Ormond StreetEssex Cricket Community Trust and Indian Ocean Disaster Relief.

It was truly an honour to be a part of the Benefit Year and we really enjoyed working alongside fellow sponsors: Distinction UKMission SportsLint Group and Green Square.  Together, we helped organise a variety of events, including the spectacular launch night which took place on the 21st March at Stock Brook Manor.

A number of sporting stars were present on the night, including football player Matthew Le Tissier who was guest speaker, Essex cricket legend Ronnie Irani who was host and England International sensation, Moeen Ali.

Bopara’s Benefit Year continued with a T20 cricket match at the County Ground in Chelmsford, where fans far and wide gathered to watch the Essex Eagles challenge the World XI – a team made up of Alastair Cook, Chris Gayle, Shahid Afridi, Kumar Sangakarra, Mihaela Jayawardene and Saeed Ajmal.

The Benefit Year also involved a dinner at Grange Hotels, before ending the year in style with a dinner at the home of cricket – Lord’s, which was hosted by Colin Cowdrey and Lord Archer, with laughter courtesy of comedian Ian Irving. The night was most certainly topped off by a guest appearance from England’s Ashes winning XI.

Being a part of Ravi Bopara’s Benefit Year will always be a treasurable memory for us at Success Recruit and we are truly grateful to have been offered an opportunity to sow our time and effort into such a worthy cause.

The year was a major success, full of fun and celebration; and most importantly, money was raised to support the work of some fantastic charities!
